The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gates, reads:
    Opens at Nightfall
    Closes at Dawn

As the sun disappears beyond the horizon, all over the tents small lights begin to flicker, as though the entirety of the circus is covered in particularly bright fireflies. When the tents are all aglow, sparkling against the night sky, the sign appears.
    Le Cirque des RĂªves
    The Circus of Dreams.

    Now the circus is open.
    Now you may enter.
My obvious choice for this would be the Harry Potter series, but I'm trying to save that for a more obscure category. So I chose The Night Circus.

I first read this book about 3 years ago and I completely fell in love with it. The plot just seems to keep expanding with each chapter. You feel like you are reading real stories from the past, which I still like to believe is true. The author is excellent at describing the Circus so the reader can see it perfectly in their mind. This is definitely a stand-alone story, it can't be compared to any others. It's perfect. If you are stuck with what to read next, this book will not disappoint you.
